Product development, organic chemistry and reagent manufacturing background . Over 25 years of experience in the development of immunoassays in a wide variety of formats. His particular expertise is in the optimization and development of particle based immunoassays. Previous positions include lead scientist at Nanogen, Inc. where he worked on the subtyping Influenza assay that the company was developing in conjunction with HX Diagnostics and the Centers for Disease Control. Prior to that he developed Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) assays for several infectious diseases. Before joining Nanogen, he was one of the founders of Microdiagnostics, Inc a small company that specialized in developing lateral flow assays for drugs of abuse and other small molecules. He has broad expertise in the selection and optimization of particles and particle conjugates and binding chemistries for use in rapid assay systems, as well as integration of reader based assay systems.
